Emotional Freedom Technique

What is EFT

EFT is an energy therapy. It was developed by Gary Craig, a Stanford trained Engineer, in 1997 based on techniques learnt from Dr. Roger Callahan's Thought Field Therapy (TFT). Based on the same ancient principles as acupuncture, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a simple method where we focus on an issue in our life while tapping gently on easily accessible acupuncture points on our face and upper body and hands. These points occur along energy pathways which are known as 'meridians'. A disruption to our meridian system can cause us to experience physical, mental and emotional upset, or in everyday terms, to feel unwell.

What are the Benefits?

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is an emotional form of acupuncture where you tap with the fingertips to stimulate certain meridian energy points on the face and upper body whilst tuned in to the problem or physical feeling. The tapping balances the energies that run through the body, the issue is resolved and the body heals the affected part. EFT can successfully treat a wide range of emotional problems including stress, anxiety, fears, phobias, trauma, grief, anger, weight loss, stopping smoking, sports performance and much more. This is a breakthrough technique in dealing with issues in a safe, gentle, non-intrusive way.

What Happens During A Session?

Your first session would start by learning where the acupunture points are and the procedure that is used.We would then start to discuss the area that you want to work on. In the event that this is very private I do not need to know what has caused the problem, only how it makes you feel. We would work together on your issue. Often the issue has been caused by a belief that we have had from childhood or from an event that happened years ago. Sessions can vary from 1hr to 1½hrs and consultations can also take place over the phone.

How Often Do I Need a Treatment

Some problems can be sorted after just one session, but just as an onion has many layers, so some problems may have more than one cause, and it may be that more sessions are needed. It is also beneficial to work with a qualified practitioner as they can keep you focused on your issue. At times you may be asked to continue to work on certain issues on your own at home.
Once you have learnt the tapping sequence and understand the basics you will be able to
deal with any number of issues.

The motto of EFT is Be Specific and try it on everything.

EFT does not take the place of conventional medicine. Always consult a GP for an acute or infectious condition, and problems of urgent concern. EFT is a complementary therapy that works effectively alongside orthodox healthcare, so expanding treatment options.
